Nestled in the vibrant heart of East London, Tayyabs is a Punjabi restaurant that promises an authentic culinary experience that's as rich and lively as its neighborhood. From the moment you step through the doors at 83-89 Fieldgate St, London E1 1JU, a wave of mesmerizing aromas engulfs you, luring you into a world where spices mingle and flavors come to life.

The atmosphere is electric—a cacophony of laughter, the clinking of glasses, and the sizzling of food being expertly cooked in the kitchen. It's a place where the energy is palpable, making it perfect for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings with friends or family. Although the venue is usually buzzing, it’s this very hustle and bustle that adds to the charm of dining at Tayyabs.

When it comes to the menu, each dish here tells a story of its own. Start your feast with the Chicken Tikka or the Mutton Tikka, both succulent and bursting with perfectly balanced spices that dance on your palate. But the real showstopper is undoubtedly the Lamb Chops—smoky, tender, and impossibly charred to perfection. Many patrons (like Han Y and Tasman Techno) rave about how these chops are a must-try, with an exquisite taste that lingers long after your last bite.

The mains are nothing short of spectacular. Imagine diving into the Karahi Chicken Saag or a rich Karahi Mutton Tikka Masala, both rich in flavor and generously portioned, making them perfect for sharing. The Saag Paneer and Karahi Dhal Gosht are also popular choices that showcase the deep, aromatic flavors typical of Punjabi cuisine.

One of the remarkable aspects of dining at Tayyabs is the value it offers. As noted by Saj Cavet, the opportunity to bring your own drinks transforms the outing into a budget-friendly experience without skimping on quality. For groups, this makes it an exciting choice for a night out.

Customer feedback paints a consistent picture of excellent service. Although it can get busy, the staff are attentive, ensuring your experience is seamless. Most diners, including SB84, enjoy being served warm naan bread right out of the tandoor—fluffy and perfect for scooping up the delightful curries.

If you find yourself in London and crave vibrant Punjabi flavors, look no further than Tayyabs. It's not just a meal; it's an unforgettable experience filled with warmth, energy, and extraordinary taste.

Tayyabs is an East London icon — loud, lively, and unapologetically flavourful. It’s the kind of place where the energy is electric, the aroma hits you the moment you walk in, and the food speaks for itself. The lamb chops are hands down the star of the show — smoky, tender, and perfectly charred with just the right amount of heat. The chicken tikka is another winner — juicy, well-marinated, and fresh off the grill. Pair that with hot, pillowy naan or their crispy, buttery garlic paratha, and you’re in for a treat. The Mutton Karahi is rich, robust, and deeply spiced — a proper hearty dish that’s full of depth. The Chicken Saag, with its creamy spinach base and tender meat, brings a lovely balance to the table. Service is fast-paced but efficient, and the staff know the menu inside out — they’ll happily guide you if you’re unsure. Whether you’re here for a big feast or just a plate of those iconic chops, Tayyabs never disappoints. Just be sure to book ahead — queues are real, and rightly so!

Food was great and really well priced, especially if you’re sharing. The fact that you can bring your own drinks makes it even more affordable, especially for groups. There were six of us, and we ordered: 1x water 2x lamb chops (a must) 2x chicken tikka 2x dry meat signature (another must) 2x saag paneer 2x karahi chicken 2x pilau rice 5x garlic naan Came to just £26 each which is insane value for the quality in London Food came quickly but service was generally quite chaotic

One of my favourite places to have Indian/Pakistani flavours on this side of London. Lamb chops are to die for here so definitely recommend that. Busy place so definitely book in advance, tho service is attentive and the food arrives to the table quite quickly.

One of the best Punjabi restaurants in London! The lamb chops is a must try and mango smoothie. The curries were packed with flavours. Generous portions and good value for money. The service was good, friendly staff and the venue is usually very busy so it can be loud. Expect long queues even though if you have a booking. I would definitely recommend this place if you fancy some good curry and willing to wait for a table and like loud atmosphere.

The place was busy and busy means good vibes! Somewhere whenever you want to dine with family or friends. The service was great didn’t take more than 5 mins to be seated and quickly served water and salad and some poppadoms with we election of sauces. The food came very quickly and hot too! The naan bread was cooked so fluffy! Overly experience was great, and very busy that I don’t think I saw the same waiter twice! Thank you and see you again.

Tayyabs is one of those London spots people always talk about, and after going, I get why. The Punjabi food is bold, full of spice, and cooked with real character. The lamb chops are the dish everyone raves about for a reason…smoky, juicy, and packed with flavor. The karahi curries are rich, hearty, and perfect for sharing around the table. Portions are generous, so you won’t leave hungry. The atmosphere is buzzing and energetic. It’s not a quiet or intimate restaurant, but that’s part of the charm. It feels alive, with big groups, sizzling plates, and constant movement. Seating can be tight, and it does get noisy, so don’t expect a calm dinner. This is more about enjoying the food and the energy of the place. Service is quick, sometimes a little rushed, but that matches the pace of the restaurant. Food usually comes out fast and fresh, which is impressive given how busy it gets. The interior is simple and functional…it’s clear the focus here is all about the food. You might walk out with your clothes carrying the smoky aroma of the grill, but honestly, that’s part of the experience. Overall, Tayyabs is a London institution worth visiting. Go with friends or family, order plenty, and enjoy the flavors.

from beginning to end we were received with amazing service, being seated almost immediately and having water, poppadoms, dips & salad being delivered in minutes. our highlights were definitely the sizzling lamb chops, the lamb and spinach (saag meat) & the lentils with baby aubergine! love that it’s BYOB, would most definitely recommend.
